Peace In A Pandemic

You may feel lonely During this pandemic.  You may feel like no one really cares especially during this time of social distancing.  This morning as I was meditating a song was playing and it simply said I’m tending to my sheep I’m tending to you.  Our lord is our shepherd and he cares for us.  We simply need to hold on to that.  How do we  hold on?  We cast our cares on Him.  He loves us and cares for us.  He wants us to cast Him all of our worries, frustration, hatreds, dislike, anxieties, all of the burdens of our minds.  In return, He will give us peace, joy, love, hope.  He doesn’t want us to worry but trust in Him.  How do we give Him  all of this.  We simply change our minds.  Philippians says Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Have you ever gone fishing or seen a fishing show when they cast the line out into the water to catch fish.  Our Lord wants us to cast all of our cares on Him the same way.  Just cast it away.  Give it to Him and let Him handle it.  And afterwards keep your mind centered by following this scriptural formula in Philippians.

Let’s look at this scripture a little closer, in other words, let’s dig deeper into this scripture so that when we memorize it and meditate on it we will have an easier time living it because our subconscious and heart will have received it.

So what are we to keep our minds on?

True and Honest

True – alethe and Honest – semnos: This means loving and speaking the truth. As well as being honorable with a good character.

“Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are.

Matthew 22:16

Walk in your truth

Walk in your truth! Know who you are in Christ and walk in it. Do not let others change you and do not change for others. Do not the lover of negativity sell you lies. Allow God to do His perfect, beautiful work in beautiful you. He created you for goodness and with a good purpose. So think on the wonderful truths of Christ. Let your character be one that is honorable. Maybe you feel like it hasn’t been. It’s ok, ask for forgiveness, start again. Our Lord loves you and will help you.

Just and Pure

Just – dikaios and Pure – hagnos: Just means being upright and righteous. Pure means clean, innocent, modest. So we need to keep our minds on things that are righteous and clean. This does not mean we walk around with our heads in the clouds not using wisdom. It simply means that we should weigh everything through the righteousness and goodness of our Lord. Sort of a what would Jesus think kind of thing. Stop allowing the negativity and darkness of others to rent space in your head. When you do this it will change your life as you live in the wisdom of God.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,  then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

James 3:17

Lovely and Good Report

Lovely – prosphilēs and Good Report – euphēmos: Lovely means keeping your mind on things that inspire love and wholesome attractiveness. Be inspired by love not hate. Do not let anyone push you to a place of hate but practice walking in love. When we think of a good report it is defined as things spoken in a kindly spirit, with good-will to others. Let your thoughts be of good will to others. Send good vibes to others and to yourself. Care for yourself as the temple you are to God. Remember as a person thinks so are they so think on lovely things and things that are of a good report.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:6

Live your life virtuously thinking on the inner beauty God has given you. Walk in his Love and peace in this pandemic and at all time. I will leave you with a final scripture to meditate on. One of peace, love, grace to keep your mind on. Remember you are loved and purposed in the beauty and love of God. He is our Great Shepherd, He loves us and cares for us. Just cast your cares upon Him. Enjoy the video below as it reminds you of how much our Lord, The Great Shepherd, loves us. Shalom

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10
